cdlinux user guide:
Preparation:

1. One USB drive with a minimum of 1GB space. Format the USB drive and save any internal files in advance.

2. cdlinux image file, size: 135MB.

3. Booting from CDlinux USB:
   Creating a bootable USB with cdlinux is a bit tricky, as cdlinux does not support built-in network cards in virtual machines. If your machine has an external network card, I will provide a method to guide you through the process. After testing various methods like grub, I found a more suitable approach that uses a small and portable tool called Unetbootin. Run the Unetbootin program and follow the settings in the provided image.

Select the BackTrack distribution, as it is suitable for our cdlinux environment. Then choose the downloaded cdlinux image file and select the drive letter of your USB drive. Be careful not to select the wrong drive letter. Click “OK” to start the creation process, which is fully automated. All you need to do is wait.

After the creation is complete, you will be prompted to restart. Click “Exit” for now and do not restart.

2. Chinese language settings:
   This step caused me some headaches during startup because the source image supports multiple languages. After completing the previous steps, the system automatically boots into English, skipping the language selection. Therefore, we need to make some settings. The method is simple. Open the USB drive and find the syslinux.cfg file as shown in the image. Open it with Notepad and replace the existing code with the code in the red box. I will provide the file for download, so you can simply replace it.

For those who do not have an external network card, you can skip this step. Now, let’s discuss how to install the image without using a USB drive. First, we need a virtual machine. I will use VirtualBox as an example (download link provided). It is less than 100MB, supports multiple languages, and is free and open-source. After installation (even though the installation interface is in English), click the “New” button in the upper left corner, select “Linux” as the type, choose any name, and leave the other settings unchanged.

Click “Next”, and the default 512MB is sufficient. Continue to the next step. Since it’s your first time using it, choose the default option to create a virtual hard disk.
